Sarah Litwiller, (the daughter of my dearest high school friends Jill & Doug Litwiller, Manson, Iowa) was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of Uterine Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer.
This happened on April 25, 2018, while in Phoenix for her brother Nick's wedding, where she had to be rushed to Mayo clinic.
Friends of Sarah agree that she is one of the kindest, bubbliest, and strongest people they know. Sarah has always been there for her friends when they needed someone - a shoulder to lean on or simply a friend to talk to.
I'm reaching out to her friends, family and acquaintances in order to return the favor and support Sarah and her family when they need us the most!
Here are a couple of facts & statistics the doctors have shared with the family regarding Sarah’s cancer:
- There are only 40,000 total cases of Sarcoma in the United States annually, compared to 300,000-400,000 cases of carcinoma each year.
- For Sarah’s specific diagnosis, there have only been 30-50 documented cases in the world in the English and Japanese languages.
- There are only 41 sarcoma oncologists in the United States (Sarah has already met with two of them – one at Mayo in Phoenix, AZ, and her current doctor at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.)

Sarah has been receiving chemo treatments and medical support in Iowa City at the University of Iowa Hospital. Sarah and her family have incurred thousands of dollars of expenses from medical bills, travel expenses and basic needs that are not covered by insurance.
I would like to ask you to help lighten the financial burden of Sarah and her family. Proceeds will go directly to Sarah for her accumulating expenses and any excess proceeds will be donated to the Uterine Cancer Foundation, to help find a cure.
Fighting cancer is a full team effort! Sarah is blessed with an **All-Star Team** which includes her Mom and Dad, Jill & Doug Litwiller, her brother and sister-in-law Nick & Adrienne Litwiller, and Sarah's boyfriend Shawn.
Sarah's support squad has produced several styles of T-Shirts which can be purchased to show your support.
