Stand with Terrel: Cancer's Toll

I am creating this GoFundMe with heartache and hope. The woman above is a wife, mother of 7, stepmother of 3, and an amazing grandma to soon-to-be 19 grandchildren. Her name is Terrel Wallace. She is a teacher and has touched the lives of countless students. Momma is the kindest, most generous, and compassionate woman I know. Not only is she all of these things, she is a warrior who has been fighting the battle against cancer for over two years now. The first time, they were able to remove it and she was cleared. A couple of months later, scans showed the cancer in her hip. She went through radiation and chemo treatments while doing her best to continue working. Finally, her scans were clear. Her goal was to return to work in August 2024; however, the radiation did a number on her body. The doctors stated that “it looked like termites got ahold of her body.” With that being said, she spent over a month in the hospital again and received one hip replacement, screws, and plates in her tailbone and other hip. After weeks in rehab, she was finally able to come home in September. Momma has spent the last few months recovering and taking medication to rebuild her bones, including a stress fracture in her spine where she was supposed to have surgery to repair it. Those plans were delayed when she was sent to the ER on Friday by her oncologist. After testing, they found that her calcium levels were extremely elevated, fluid in her abdomen, and constipation. They also did another CT scan. Needless to say, our worst fears happened all over again. The cancer has returned and is now in her stomach. This is gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, and so many other emotions. My stepdad is unable to work because Mom requires many appointments, and with chemo, it is hard to do things on her own. There is no income coming in, and medical bills have been piling up for months. However, medical bills are the least of their worries.They are now in talks of having to sell their home. With no income, simple luxuries and necessities with go unmet. Things like her car payments, insurance, house payments, food, fuel, utility bills, etc that they are unable to pay at this time. We are unsure what the road ahead looks like. We do know that the last thing that their focus should be on is money. Her sole focus should be keeping her faith and healing so that her grandbabies will have her for years to come. I know my Momma has reached many lives through her teaching career, and I know just how loved and supported she is. If you cannot give financially, please share and pray. Pray for healing and pray this is the last time she has to go through treatments. God has healed her twice now, and we are counting on Him to do it again.

Anyone that knows my Momma knows that she does not ask for help and she is independent and stubborn. All qualities that are going to help her beat the nastiness inside her. Her love for teaching and for others in general shines through her, as well as her faith in God.
