Hello Everyone, I’m Shelly’s cousin, Sheila. I’m asking for your help to support Billy Dunn, Shelly Raup and their children Will & Lily for an Emergency Situation
On June 29th, 2024, Billy was involved in a near-deadly vehicle accident. His truck flipped multiple times, he was ejected from the side window, had to be life-flighted to the Emergency Trauma Unit at Greenville Hospital where he was placed in the ICU, had to have emergency surgery for a broken neck and vertebrae. He has suffered spinal cord damage. The doctors say it will not heal, but we are trusting God for a miracle. The doctors say he is paralyzed from the chest down and we are standing on faith that it is just temporary.
Leading up to the accident Billy, Shelly and the kids had spent all day at the church decorating for Vacation Bible School. They were driving 2 separate vehicles, they left church together. He stopped to grab dinner, so Shelly & the kids went their separate ways home. Shelly & the kids waited for an hour and a half, but couldn't reach him on his phone. Then the state trooper knocked at the door with tragic news. Billy had been in a wreck and had been life flighted 2 hrs away to ECU health center in Greenville NC
Unfortunately, nightmare experiences like this one leave families struggling to recover financially due to not only the medical bills, but also the costs to bring Dunn home and to meet his and his family’s needs for the foreseeable future. At the end of the day, there is still a long road to recovery for the entire Dunn family and any support you can provide would be so appreciated and beneficial to them and their ability to adjust to their new normal.
A huge thank you to the numerous people that have already provided monetary support, meals, gift cards, cards of encouragement, and hard work around their home. The Dunn family cannot say thank you enough for surrounding them with love in this tough time.
The Dunn family has ended their nightly prayers with “we are thankful for the food on our plates, clothes on our backs, roof over our heads, and friends and family by our side”. Now more than ever, they are thankful for the necessities in life and the love they feel near and far.
If you know Billy then you know that he’s one of the best humans alive. He’s a good friend, great dad, hard worker, he’s the guy that does all the behind the scenes heavy lifting and construction required for any of Shelly’s decorating ideas for holidays and kids parties that end up being childhood dreams come true and amazing childhood memories, the dad that sits at the table and lets the girls paint his fingernails for their fun parties, the head of household earning the main source of income to give his family the best life possible, the guy that gives you the shirt off his back, and the guy that just makes this world a better place to live in with his humor & big heart. He restores faith in humanity. He and Shelly teach their kids to love everyone, to be kind to all, and to give back to the world. And now we have the opportunity to return that kindness to him and his family.
The Dunn family is forever grateful for the community that has risen up around them to carry them through this difficult time. Every little bit will help this family.
Thank you for any donation, be it monetary, task, prayer, child care, meals, visits, an ear to listen or simply by sharing this page for others to see; your love is greatly appreciated by all who love and support this wonderful family
