Stand with the Family with the loss, of Tammy Hopkins .

As you all know, I’m Kaitlyn, a grandchild of Tammy Hopkins, mother of Joseph Smith, Sarah Price, and Paul Price. About two years ago, between 2020 and 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She recovered due to chemotherapy and was declared cancer-free. However, in 2024, she fell seriously ill and was unable to keep food down. It was then discovered that a hiatal hernia had pushed up through the stomach lining into the esophagus. As a result, no nutrients were getting into the stomach area, causing her to become weak. Later, it was found that the cancer had returned and it had not only spread to her bones but also to her brain, causing a tumor. A feeding tube (GI) came in consideration to get nutrition into the body system. Although, if the tube went down the throat it would curl back up due to the blockage. Therefore, they also couldn’t perform surgery to place a feeding tube into the stomach, to get nutrition to her body . Due to the weakness of her body, it was very unlikely to make it through a surgery.  She moved from Augusta to Roanoke Memorial, trying to make her as comfortable as possible, knowing she chose to go home and live out the rest of the time she had remaining. We ask everyone to be with us and keep us in your thoughts and prayers as this is a rough path to endure and recover from. Anything will help out, including funeral service, medical expenses etc. 

She was an outstanding woman who helped anyone and talked to anyone who ever passed her. She was always willing and giving.
