Stand with the Foleys in their Battle Against ALS
Donation protected
As some of you may know our dear friends Shelia and Ed Foley, have recently been propelled into a health expedition to find out why Ed has been suffering from severe fatigue, muscle wasting, extreme weight loss, muscle twitching and pain over the last few months. Ed was very concerned that it may be ALS as he watched his grandfather suffer from the awful symptoms and fate that ALS brings. Unfortunately, his nightmare was realized earlier this week when the ALS diagnosis was confirmed. We are all completely devastated and heartbroken for Ed, Sheila, and their teenage children, Taylor, Bristol and Aidan. We are hopeful that Ed will defy the odds and fight this awful disease for as long as he possibly can while maintaining the best quality of life possible.
For those of you that know the Foleys, family is absolutely everything to them. The five of them are so closely bonded. As for Sheila and Ed they got marriage right. They have always made an intentional effort to enjoy each other as parents but also as the loving couple that they are. Date nights and keeping the love alive is a huge priority for them as it should be with all of us. They have proven that they will go to hell and back for each other as evidenced in their not too long ago history. Shelia fought and won a tough battle with inflammatory breast cancer with Ed by her side every step of the way. Ed suffered a heart attack, overcame opened heart surgery and they navigated the rough recovery together so he could make his way back to his family. It just doesn’t seem right that after overcoming all of it that this is now what they are up against after everything they have already been through. Although we cannot take away this awful realization from this family, we would like to take away some of the stress and the strain that this diagnosis brings. Ed has been out of work as he can no longer continue as a lineman with his loss of strength. They are now up against mounting costs of medical bills to come and the gap that long term disability provides. When checking in on Ed recently he remains selfless stating “I will be okay it’s my family that I worry about. I want to know that they will be okay and to be able stay in our home.” I remember their housewarming and the pride they had on the tour of their beautiful home. It has given them so much joy and so many memories. We are hoping that we can all come together like a village as many of us really do feel that to us the Foleys are not just friends but family. We want to take away at least one thing off their plate that is currently full of worry and the unknown so they can focus on what is important. We want them to be able focus on spending quality time and making memories and to not have to give the security of their home a second thought.
Please help me in donating to this wonderful family that has already endured so much.
