Stand with Tonya Nesbitt in Legal Battle
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Shaker Village Condominium Association is trying to sell its old clubhouse to the City of Tamarac for $1.94 million. They made this decision without properly asking the unit owners. Many people in our community, including Ms. Tonya Nesbitt, disagree with this sale. Ms. Nesbitt bravely filed a lawsuit against the Association to fight for what is right.
Ms. Nesbitt's case is about whether the clubhouse is a common area that belongs to all residents. She and her lawyers believe it is, but the Association disagrees. The judge ruled in favor of the Association, but Ms. Nesbitt is appealing the decision and needs help to fund the appeal process.
The Association's lawyers are trying to make Ms. Nesbitt pay their legal fees to stop others from speaking out. They want to silence her and anyone else who might disagree with them.
The situation is urgent. The clubhouse was destroyed on August 26, 2017. The Association got insurance money to fix it and signed a contract on August 14, 2020, to start repairs. But for some reason, they never started the work, and the building has gotten worse. Now, the 2023-2024 Board says selling the property is the best option.
We need your help to support Ms. Nesbitt's fight for justice. Any amount you can give will make a big difference. Our goal is to raise $6,000 to cover the legal fees for the appeal.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
