Standing for Joey

Hey guys, I’m Joey. I was injured June 27, 2015 while camping in Montana with friends. I was riding an ATV when I lost sight of the trail and crashed into a 70ft ravine and hit bolders. Hours passed before I was found. I sustained a C5 spinal cord injury meaning I’m paralyzed from the neck down. I have some movement in my arms, but as you can imagine, my life changed forever that day.

It’s been a very long road to get the movement and life I have today, but I still have some very big goals. Sure, I’d love to walk again, but right now I’m working on reducing the intense nerve pain I live with every day, increasing upper body movement and strength, and regaining independence.

My fundraising goal is big, I get it, but this injury is big. It’s a lifetime multi-million dollar injury, and I’m still at the beginning. So this is exactly what I’m fundraising for:

-To help pay for medical expenses and rehabilitation for my up-coming  hand surgery at Craig Hospital in Denver. The hand-wrist surgery will allow me to possibly feed myself again, drive a car again, and hopefully return back to work (independence).

-A new wheelchair that will recline and elevate my legs to help relieve my sciatic pain and prevent anymore blood clots in my legs. This will help with reducing my nerve pain.

-Upper Tone Medical/Exercise equipment to rehabilitate and strengthen my upper body so someday I can be independent again while improving my quality-of-life. It has 16 different exercises I can do without someone helping me.

We all face obstacles in life. Right now I’m facing a huge one. I don’t want you to feel sorry for me, and please know how difficult it is to ask for help. Please know ANYTHING you can do to help me toward my goal is appreciated more than you’ll ever know. Thank you, and God bless.
