Standing Together For Marcus

Many of you know that Marcus Kennedy is currently receiving therapy at a rehabilitation center (Shirley Ryan AbilityLab) in Chicago after having been transferred from Alaska Regional Hospital in late September 2024, where he was taken after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during a basketball tournament.
Shirley Ryan offers help that is not available in Alaska. He is still in a minimally conscious state, but he has made good and consistent progress, and the goal is to help him to regain consciousness and return him to full health. From the beginning, we were told that this process would be “a marathon, not a sprint,” and that has truly turned out to be how his journey has been so far.
Marcus is currently at Almost Home Kids in Chicago, which is a transitional facility from inpatient care to returning home. This is a short-term solution with a max stay of 120 days. As previously stated, because the help we need is not available in Alaska, we will need to secure housing in Chicago while he completes his rehab. We have already spent one Christmas in Chicago and anticipate we will have another as he needs a lot of medical support and care.
We are so grateful for the assistance and care that Marcus and our family have received thus far, and we humbly thank you in advance for your continued support and prayers. All money raised will go solely toward Marcus’ needs, which we are currently assessing; we will post those as they become clear.
