Standing Up for KeeSonya “KeeKee” Lynch
Donation protected
KeeSonya Lynch, affectionately known as “KeeKee,” needs our help with offsetting her legal fees and basic living expenses.
KeeKee is a 21-year veteran at the Bastrop Police Department in Bastrop, Louisiana and an 8-year veteran in the United States Army. She has mentored girls in the community for years and has a benevolent heart for helping others in the community where she proudly lives and has raised her four children. She has always sacrificed her own personal time for the benefit of the police department and the citizens of Bastrop. Often having to be absent from her family.
On May 14, 2021, KeeKee was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief, making her the 1st Female African American to EVER serve in the position in the small town of Bastrop, Louisiana.
However, This historic milestone was short-lived! A new mayor was elected in July 2021, and soon thereafter, KeeSonya was demoted to Captain on October 1, 2021, by the mayor with NO explanation.
This unwarranted demotion to Captain and reduction in pay was financially devastating- negatively impacting her ability to cover the expenses of her oldest son’s first year in college, in addition to caring for her son, who suffers from Autism.
Bastrop’s mayor put KeeKee on Administrative Leave for 60 days to investigate a claim of excessive overtime usage. However, that investigation ultimately yielded no such findings during her tenure as Assistant Chief.
KeeKee did not put in decades of hard work, too, work overnight on the streets, make it to an administrative level only to turn around and “steal” time/money. Many nights we would talk while she was at work when she should have been at home with her family. However, because of the shortage of officers and other circumstances beyond her control, she would work to make sure the shifts and streets were covered and protected. Those of you who know her know she would do it every time to help a co-worker and protect her community.
The Mayor or Assistant Chief or both filed a complaint with Louisiana State Police about KeeKee’s proposed excessive overtime. The State Police ultimately found no wrongdoing on behalf of KeeSonya Lynch. Finally, on January 11, 2022, KeeKee was terminated.
The destruction this mayor has caused since July 2021 is surreal. The mayor has done nothing but cause emotional distress and financial hardship for KeeKee.
KeeSonya and I are first cousins. She has been there for me, and now I am going to be there for her. In her favorite words, “Treat people how you want to be treated.” So, I am STANDING UP for KeeKee.
I am asking you to Stand Up for KeeKee as well and help us raise money to assist her during this time. She is fighting for her rights, and her career. She is up against the small town of Bastrop who has abused their authority, enacted political agendas, and executed retaliation- all of which are directives from the mayor!
Please share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount).
From the bottom of our hearts we humbly Thank You for your support and God bless each and every one of you!!!
