This is Katerina's story.

Katerina came to the United States when she was just 11 years old. This is the country where she grew up, built her life, developed friendships, and established a career dedicated to serving others.

For years, Katerina dedicated her career to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her work reflected her compassion, dedication, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Katerina spent her career advocating for people who needed someone in their corner. Today, she is the one who needs someone in hers.

On September 8, 2026, Katerina was taken into custody. She has remained detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) while fighting for her freedom and her ability to remain in the country she has called home since childhood.

Those closest to Katerina believe her detention is unjust and are fighting to ensure that her rights are protected.

Behind this situation is a real person: a daughter, a friend, and a woman who has spent much of her life helping others.

Every day she remains detained is another day separated from the people who love her and the life she has worked so hard to build.
