Standing With Scot
Donation protected
Hi, Everyone!
On Tuesday, June 7th, Scot McEwen was admitted to Northside-Atlanta hospital and diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). While this is a very aggressive form of cancer, it seems at the moment that we have caught it early enough for the cancer to be treatable with chemotherapy. Luckily, the cancer does not appear to have spread into the bone marrow. However, Scot will have a long road of treatment ahead with multiple rounds of chemotherapy and the implantation of a pacemaker due to side effects from some of his newly prescribed medication. There will be, at a minimum, five 5-week cycles of chemotherapy. Scot will be staying at the hospital for this first 5-week cycle, then his team of doctors will reassess to determine if he will be able to go through the next round as an outpatient.
As the owner/operator of an Atlanta-based plumbing & mechanical contracting company that has downsized in recent years, he is essentially a one-man-show with the exception of his wife, Debra, that manages his office while he is out in the field attending to customers’ needs. This leaves them with very hefty medical costs and no ability to create an income through his business, nor do they have health insurance. This is where they need your help! They need your support in order to help cover the astronomical costs of saving Scot’s life. Every donation, no matter the size, is a HUGE help!
Considering Scot’s significantly lowered immune system during this treatment process, he is unable to take any visitors at this time. He most certainly would love to hear from you, though! Please feel free to reach out to his daughter, Jessica Eryn, if you would like to send any cards to his room or schedule a phone or video chat.
