Standing with Scott

It has been said that those who are the first to step up and offer help to others, are so often the last ones to ask for help, for themselves. This completely encapsulates our friend, volunteer, and lifelong Mount Pearl community member, Scott Hillyer. 

Scott is in the midst of a brave battle against a rare and challenging form of cancer, with the support of his husband Cyril, his family and close friends rallying by his side. 

 

Scott is widely known for his work as the proprietor of Coffee Matters, however he is also a quiet pillar of our community who makes vitally important contributions in a behind-the-scenes fashion that is consistent with the kind, genuine person that he is. 

 

Even through the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic and the incredible impacts it had on every small business, Scott upheld his commitment to organizing and providing the Community Suppers that have supplied thousands of hot meals to those in need, at no cost to the recipients. This is just one example of the type of support he has offered to his community, his family, and to his 40+ employees. And for Scott, this was never about the recognition, but about his pure passion for doing what you can to help others.

 

Now it's our turn to give back to the man who has given us so much, during his time of need.

 

As Scott takes time away from work to recover from major surgeries and undergo extensive treatments, including extremely costly medications, we are asking for your support. Your donation will assist in offsetting these expenses so that Scott and his family can maintain their focus on the battle ahead.
