Help Cammy file charges against Judge Adrian for Abuse of Judicial Discretion #StandWithCammy
"I woke up at my friend's place with a pillow over my face and I couldn't be heard and Drew Clinton inside of me. I asked him to stop multiple times and he wouldn't." This is the statement that 16 year old sexual assault victim ,Cammy Vaughan gave to local NBC news affiliate, WGEM, after Judge Robert Adrian changed his finding of guilty, to not guilty, because he did not agree with the mandatory minimum sentence required for Drew Clinton. The assault took place on May 30, 2021 after a graduation party.
The mission of this fundraising effort is to help Cammy bring legal charges against Judge Robert Adrian for violation of the judicial code and abuse of power, by filing for a special remedy.
On January 3, 2022, Judge Robert Adrian (Eighth Circuit Court of Illinois) violated the judicial code of conduct by not abiding by the lawful sentencing requirements set forth for a class 1 felony, after finding Drew Clinton guilty of the sexual assault of a minor. Judge Adrian said in open court that he changed his ruling because he did not want to follow the law, by imposing the mandatory minimum sentence of four years. Judge Adrian said that 148 days in jail was punishment enough for the sexual assault of a 16 year old girl. Judge Adrian showed contempt for the laws which he swore to uphold, and a clear bias and prejudice against sexual assault victims. In addition, Judge Adrian blamed the victim, what she was wearing, and the hosts of the party she attended, prior to the assault.
The following day, Judge Adrian expelled Adams County Assistant State's Attorney Josh Jones from the courtroom on the basis of Jones' support of the 16 year old victim, in a blatant abuse of his authority. Following this incident, Judge Frank McCartney (Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit Court of Illinois) filed an administrative order that removed Judge Adrian from all criminal cases, effective immediately. However, he is still actively on the bench and ruling on cases.
Adams County State's Attorney, Gary Farha, is working with the Chief Deputy Director of the State's Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor's Office, David Robinson, to put Drew Clinton back in front of a judge for sentencing. Robinson is the Deputy Director of the Fourth Judicial District, which includes 30 counties across the central part of Illinois.
While the Adams County State's Attorney's Office and the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor's Office are taking steps to hold Drew Clinton accountable in a criminal court, steps still need to be taken to hold Judge Robert Adrian accountable for his egregious abuse of power, and violation of the judicial code. Judge Adrian has a legal obligation and duty to uphold the law. He is not entitled to change the law based upon his personal beliefs. Judge Adrian has proven his inability to be fair and just by upholding the law.
The money raised will pay for legal fees to seek action against Judge Adrian in a civil court for his abuse of Judicial Discretion for not abiding by the sentencing law for a class 1 felony, and to overturn his decision. Any money raised beyond what covers legal fees will be divided between a donation to Quanada and Cammy. As a survivor of sexual assault, Cammy will need continued services and resources as a result of the trauma that she endured; trauma from the sexual assault as well as the trauma of injustice by the hands of Judge Adrian.
Please support this strong and brave young woman in her fight for justice….and justice for all victims of sexual assault.
