Please Help Stanley live his Dream

On Staurday 5th October I will be climbing Ben Nevis

alongside my Brother Steve and a close family friend Vicky.

I will be doing this challenge in the hope I can raise some money For my son Stanley

to fulfil his Dream.

My Son Stanley is my best friend, I have not left his side since December 9th 2021, he is 9 years old and battling terminal

brain and spine cancer called Posterior Fossa Group A Anaplastic Ependymoma

with A 1q molecular gain (a very difficult and basically impossible mutation to

cure) He is currently on daily chemo and has weekly infusions injected to his

brain at Great Ormand Street.

Stanley has been battling brain and spine cancer for almost

3 years now, his treatment has been back to back with only a small break last

year he has had multiple relapses and bis case is very complex.

In December 2021 he was diagnosed and had 2 major surgeries to his brain, 1 was to

drain the fluid on his brain, which at that time was critical, Stanley’s

Mum and myself rushed him to our Local AnE, GPs had given him the brush off twice, were told if we waited for the appointment the GP gave us for end of January he wouldn't have survived...

even though he presented with all the classic signs of a Brain Tumour.

The second surgery was 14 hours long to remove the tumour,

sadly not all the tumour could be removed.... he was left deaf in one ear, had

to learn to walk, talk, sit up and even swallow... it took months for him to be

able eat and drink without a feeding tube.

He has endured in total 6 months of proton beam and

radiotherapy, he was put under anaesthetic for this daily, Mon to Friday for 7

weeks a time, secured to a bed by a mask.

He also had 2 tumours removed from his spine and another tumour from his brain due to multiple relapses....

Altogether he has endured over 150+anaesthetics he has had

18 months of chemotherapy and still another 6 of this course to go!

He has missed over 2 school years due to minimal time away

from hospital and being too poorly and just too anxious to go due to being away

so long.. sadly I have to say he has been subject to nasty comments out in public

due to his scars, his bald head, his feeding tube when he has it in... and now

he has his assistance dog who gives him lots of confidence and love.

Throughout this time he has been asked many times what he

wanted from Make A wish... he has never really been sure But He approached both

myself and his Mum a couple of months ago and said "I’ve finally decided

what I want for my make a wish! I want to go to Universal studios Orlando and Disney"

After doing Our research We found out that Make a Wish UK no

longer offer this as a wish I researched more and more. There are some charities that may be able to help a bit but his wish is to visit these places and swim with the dolphins and do Orlando properly! And that’s what we aim to achieve.

He is fit to fly from February time and it’s his 10th birthday is in March, a charity had sat down and planned hotels, flights, and dates (for a week after his birthday) only to say no.

We are trying to raise 10k for Stanley's Florida dream. His travel insurance alone is just over £3,600!!!!

We leave on the 4th October, tackle Ben Nevis on the 5th and return home on the 6th!! 

We have already started our training and our trainer will accompany

us to share his knowledge on the mountain and also offer us support and safety.
