About
Hi, our names are Jacob Wasserman and Lucas Elzer, and we are two producers of Star of Samuel, a narrative short film made for the B.A. Capstone program at Emerson College. Jacob is also writing and directing the film.
Star of Samuel is a comedy-drama about an androgynous punk rocker named Percy, who, needing financial support, returns home to their father, a reform rabbi. As the two spend the day together, they clash over differing worldviews, past trauma and the battle between tradition and self-expression.
Your donations will provide our team with enough funding to support our immensely talented crew. In turn, this will help our story come to life.
This story explores the challenges of pursuing one's passion and staying true to one's identity, specifically how it affects their relationship with their parents. Beyond the film's Jewish and queer themes, it's a relatable story to anyone who has had to justify their career to their loved ones. With the recent rise of antisemitism in the United States, it is more important than ever to promote Jewish voices and positive depictions of Judaism in the media.
Funding
We are hoping to raise $1,250 for Star of Samuel (through GoFundMe) to cover our production expenses. These include transportation, catering for cast and crew, production design, marketing & distribution, and location fees.
We look forward to starting filming soon and can't wait to get the final product out into the world! Thanks again!!!
