Star Song School is Ready to Grow!

Star Song School is a new school in St. Augustine, Florida that arose out of the desire to bring Waldorf Education to our beautiful, historical town. We offer a wholistic curriculum that blends core academics with art, music, and movement in support of the developing intellectual, emotional, and physical growth in our students. Trained Waldorf teachers understand that gross and fine motor activities help develop a child’s body and brain, so a typical school day is infused with such activities through song, verse, or games. Outdoor play and nature studies are seen as necessary to a child’s healthy growth, and a sense of wonder and curiosity of the natural world (really, any subject!) is encouraged. Our curriculum is unique and is much needed in a time when children are asked more and more to be sedentary and learn through rote memorization techniques. We believe movement is essential to learning. It certainly makes for happier children!

Star Song opened its doors two years ago with a dedicated group of kindergarten and first grade parents. In the 2023-24 school year, we will offer grades K-3, and will add a grade each subsequent year through eighth grade, allowing the lead class to move up.

Star Song School is in an exciting phase of its growth, and we need your help. On June 1st, we moved to a new school site that is more spacious and has more visibility. We continue to have new inquiries, and we expect the school to grow quickly once we are in our new site. We need teachers to meet the growing needs of our school.

While there are several areas where we could use funding, our immediate need is to hire certified Waldorf teachers and help interested teachers get trained, so that we can bring a true Waldorf program to our students.

Once our teachers are in place, the next phase for Star Song School is to become a non-profit organization and to start the process of joining the Association of Waldorf Schools. Won’t you help us meet our goals?
