Star Theatres Robbed 3 Times

What This Is All About

Hello, over the last 3 months Star Theatres in Adelaide has been robbed 3 times. This has led to the theatre losing a large sum of actual money and equipment totalling in over $35,000.

Due to some very generous local people and businesses the theatre was able to operate during the Adelaide Fringe (one of the busiest times of year), while the wait for very slow insurance payments. However, insurance isn't going to cover 100% of what was lost, and what is needed to replace the items stolen. At the end of this period, the theatre will be out of pocket more than $10,000. This isn't a business with a larger body behind them, but an independantly run theatre that operates with little to no profit. For them, this is a huge blow.

At a time where live art is harder than ever to keep in business, any donation is greatly appreciated.

How will the money be used?

The funds will go towards the replacement of some key equipment that is required for shows going forward, which hasn't been able to be replaced yet. Equipment needed for upcoming shows that the theatre can't currently afford to replace.

Who am I?

My name is Luke. I've worked with Star for a long time, but have recently taken a larger role elsewhere. It's been hard seeing all my old colleages do it so tough without being in the thick of it with them.

Why now?

It's gotten to the point where even if the robbers are caught, it's very unlikely we'll see any of the equipment. I didn't think this would be appropriate to do if we were getting the equipment back.

Who robbed Star?

All I can say is that the police have leads, and we're 99% sure it was the same group each time. The first two times they were very good about not giving us much evidence, but they slipped up the third time.

Is it going to happen again?

Each robbery saw an increase in security. After the 3rd robbery, it has been upgraded significantly.

I have no money, is there anything I can do?
