StarBright College Dream Challenge
Donation protected
Well I can’t believe it! This time next year I will be heading off to college. For half of my life (9 years to be exact) many of you have supported my campaigns (over 18 successful campaigns) to help so many literally across the world and I’m truly grateful to each and every one of you. What a campaign ride it has been to do good work and through the kindness of others help so many in need.
As I think back on all my campaigns like my first trip to SpaceCamp that made me realize #RepresentationMatters to Taylor’s Take Flight with a Book drive for literacy efforts so youth could have home libraries, to STEM and girls empowerment camps and conferences so girls especially girls of color can have the resources to dream and do BIG, to feeding local seniors in my city for annual Thanksgiving luncheons, to the annual Back to School Jamboree for families in need of backpacks and school supplies, to aiding in bailing out youth during the Black Lives Matter peaceful protests, to raising awareness against racism with The Black Friend challenge donating 1000 of the book to US and US embassies, to paying for daycare for frontline workers during COVID, and my favorite the many movie screenings for Hidden Figures, A Wrinkle In Time, and Captain Marvel challenges.
I’ve been truly blessed to have a platform like this to bring about change and most importantly be the change I want to see in the world. Thank You!
And while I have been fundraising, speaking out against injustices and advocating I have managed to keep my academics in check with a 3.5 cumulative GPA going into my senior year. Even finishing my junior year with a 3.9! So as I end one journey next spring - high school and embark on a new one next fall - College, I asking for your support to ensure my endeavor of paying for college comes true.
Yes, my story is still being written for college, to become a physician (specifically an OBGYN to have more Black female doctors) and to continue on to my ultimate goal of becoming an astronaut and one of the first to go to Mars. Yet, to do any of it I will need help in funding my own dream which is my college education. I do plan to apply for as many scholarships as I can to help to not cause more of financial burden for myself nor my mom . So this campaign is to help ease some of that financial for her and myself.
I know service doesn’t end with just a campaign it is actually the just start of it and one part of it. So this time the new campaign, the new challenge, it’s for yours truly - to get StarBright (aka me) to college and hopefully with little to no debt! This campaign may be another one of my big lofty dreams but hey that’s how StarBright came into fruition; and, like I said years ago, get used to me because I’m not going anywhere! And I still plan to bring a sisterhood of warrior with me by disrupting the status quo where we all especially girls and girls of color have equal representation at the table.
All proceeds will go towards anything college —fees for college applications, tuition, meals, room and board, college items and dorm supplies.
Lastly you know I couldn’t just do a campaign for myself, if I receive extra funds or exceed my goal those funds will go towards aiding in another senior’s college education! Who knows this campaign just may help get get not one but two people get to college!
They don’t call me the GoFundMe challenge girl for nothing! Maybe this campaign will inspire others to create their own challenge for someone to pay it forward! I hope you will share and maybe donate!
Remember you’ve been challenged! And stay tuned for my senior year and college updates including decision day! Fingers crossed!
Thank you,
Taylor
