Starbucks Worker Fired for Attending Funeral
Donation protected
If you know Michael, you know that he is the most genuine, kind, and considerate people you could ever know. Michael has a passion and love for coffee and was a barista at Starbucks for FIVE YEARS. He just celebrated his 5 year anniversary with the company this week.
Michael was instrumental in getting his store, Transit Commons, to file for a union election and win that election after months of relentless union-busting from Starbucks.
Now, after leading numerous strike efforts at his store, Michael has been wrongfully terminated in retaliation for his being a union leader. And the reason Starbucks fired him? For attending his grandmother’s funeral. Michael had MULTIPLE conversations with management about being unable to attend his shift due to the funeral. Management was aware of the situation, and in these emergency cases, it is the MANAGER’s responsibility to get coverage for that partner.
Just when we think Starbucks can’t reach a new low, they find another way to sink deeper. This is heartbreaking and disgusting. Please help Michael if you can.
Thank you.
