4) Fund ad campaigns to raise awareness about this pro-black social media platform!

What is StarPages?

StarPages is a social media platform and app that was founded, developed, and is owned by William Jenkins, a black Software Engineer at NASA. About a year ago, William began noticing a disturbing trend of blacks experiencing blatant racism on nearly all major social medial platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. He noticed that Facebook (which owns Instagram) has been involved in a lot of controversy regarding its black members experiencing racism on the platform as well as its employees experiencing racism within the company. He also noticed that Tik Tok used blacks and black culture in their ads to gain popularity for their app (which is Chinese owned), and that almost immediately after gaining that popularity, blacks began experiencing blatant racism on the platform. This inspired him to create the StarPages platform, created by us and for us. StarPages is a pro-black social medial platform that is intended to be used as a tool to unify black people all over the world for one cause: edifying the black community.

What Does StarPages Do?

StarPages combines the functionality of twitter and instagram, allowing the members to post text, pictures, videos, gif’s, links, and more! In addition to those features, StarPages has a built in pay-per-view live streaming capability, which allows performers to charge their followers for viewing live streams! This means that if a performer (such as a musician or a comedian) has 15,000 followers on StarPages and charges his followers $1 to view a live performance, and if 10,000 of his followers watch the live stream for $1, the performer could earn close to $10,000 for a single performance. This feature was implemented to empower black performers to experience greater monetary gain from their talents and popularity, instead of being moderated and muted like some black celebs experienced on the Instagram platform during the “versus” battles, where instagram would shut down the live streams of black artists when the live streams started to gain millions of viewers. In addition to the potential for monetary gain via pay-per-view live, StarPages has a built in ad sharing algorithm that automatically shares ad revenue with members based on their popularity and likes, as apposed to the other platforms, which make hundreds millions from the ad revenue associated with the app views and activity that popular members draw, while leaving the popular members with nothing.

How can StarPages Help?

The StarPages vision is to not only use the platform to empower black performers to leverage their popularity on the app to gain wealth, but the vision is also to use a percentage of StarPages ad revenue to invest in and grow black businesses. Each month, StarPages will dedicate some of it’s ad revenue to investing in black start-ups, in order to increase wealth within the black community, causing StarPages to function as a centralized location to promote and develop black businesses. The long term goal of helping to grow black businesses is to create future investors to invest back into the black community. The vision of StarPages is to create a cycle of growing black businesses so that they can invest back into the black community.

Lastly, the StarPages vision is to unify black people all over the world via social media. Blacks are typically regarded as a “minority”, but internationally blacks represent over 1 billion of the word’s population. The reason the minority narrative has been so prevalent is because most black populations have been “divided and conquered” either by colonialism or slavery. The StarPages vision is to unify all blacks internationally on the platform, so that we can work together as the global black community. Currently, StarPages is beginning to reach that goal with black members from 38 countries, and growing!
