Starr’s Fight For Life

Her name is Starr, and she is my star in life.

My name is Melvin, and I am her husband. At this time, my dear Starr is fighting for her life from a rare disease called Stevens-Johnson TEN syndrome. This is causing her extreme skin conditions with rashes, swelling, blisters and skin loss. Currently on 8/4/2023 she has lost 68% of her skin. It has affected her eyes and mouth, and she has hair loss. Per the UAB medical team, it was caused by an allergic reaction from a prescribed medication.

It started on July 24, 2023. By July 27th Starr was on a ventilator in the ICU. Stevens-Johnson TEN is life threatening. If recovery is possible, she will be in the hospital for several months. The medical bills will be enormous, and unfortunately, we do not have insurance.

Starr and I have worked as a team for 15+ years serving Birmingham and Alabama with our family-owned catering business. We love serving the community. This tragic syndrome could certainly hurt our beloved business.

A friend urged me to create this GoFundMe page as he watches us suffer through this. My simple request is for you to donate any amount to help us pay the extremely high medical costs.
