Starting my own no-kill animal rescue

Hi, my name is Makenna and I'm trying to raise money to start my own no-kill animal rescue for my small town in Newton, Iowa! Ever since I was a little girl I always had my mind set on working with and helping animals in need. My experience goes as far back as 2011 when I first started volunteering at my local animal shelter and continued volunteering there for seven years until I graduated from high school and I was hired on to join their staff! I worked there officially for nearly two years, living my dream and helping as many animals as possible! Unfortunately due to an unorganized board who did not work to serve the animals and their best interests the local animal shelter I practically grew up in was shut down. The stray animals in my town are now sent to a local vet clinic where they serve their 7 day stray hold and then are shipped off to an out of town animal rescue about fourty minutes away that unfortunately is not a no-kill organization. I would love to be able to take in owner surrenders for my county and my goal is to eventually try to take up a contract with my city to do animal control and give those poor stray animals a safe haven until I can find them the perfect home they deserve. I have a plan to start out as a foster based animal rescue until one day I can get the funds and grants to open up my own building! But before I can even dream of doing that I need a specific license to be able to start an animal rescue organization which costs around $75 and a 501c3 which will be $600 alone. I would also love to be able to get certified in dog training because while I have nearly a decade of experience I don't have any certification and that would cost another $400. I'm asking for $5,000 to help not only cover those costs but to help cover other costs such as liability insurance, animal supplies, medical needs for future animals, etc. My husband Andrew and I would appreciate any and all donations as we work to make this become a reality and I'm happy to answer any questions!!
