Startup funding for “Navajo Highways”
Donation protected
Hello my name is Pete Sands. I’m based in the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation. I am currently in the middle of creating a children’s TV show called “Navajo Highways”. It is a show specifically aimed at revitalizing the Navajo language and culture.
Like with most Indigenous languages in North America the number of those who speak the Navajo language has been on the decline. It is absolutely vital that we find a way to preserve our language and culture.
Which lead me to the idea of using muppets to help with this issue. I created four Navajo muppet characters to start a children’s TV show that follows these muppets as they travel across the Navajo Nation learning the language and culture. The two main characters are two child puppets named “Ash & Sadie” who are also cousins. Then there is “Uncle Al” and “Grandma Sally”.
It is absolutely vital that we do our part in saving our Navajo language. With your help and support we can begin down this path to preservation and education.
Thank you,
Pete Sands.
