Starving from Disease--Anything Helps!

Early 2022, I began losing weight rapidly. At first, it was great!

But it didn't taper off.

I spent months going to doctors, specialists, and hospitals.

Tests, procedures, scans, biopsies, x-rays, so much blood!

By August, I was physically sick and in pain by 4am.

I could no longer eat more than a few ounces at a time.

I was vomiting 4-5 times during my work days.

I kept going.

November, I received a life-altering diagnosis: autoimmune exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI).

I was severe.

Total weight loss: 62lbs

This condition makes it impossible for my body to digest food due to a lack of enzymes produced by the pancreas. As a result, I experience chronic pain, extreme fatigue, and many malnutrition symptoms.

33 days after receiving diagnosis, in the middle of the holiday season, my husband filed for divorce.

In January '23, I was diagnosed with stomach paralysis further complicating my digestive disease.

In February '23, I had surgery and I didn't recover as I should have. I got really sick again and resigned from a career I LOVED.

I realized later, I had unknowingly resigned from one of my biggest support groups.

Business is business, right?

I took a great new job in the medical field! Woohoo! They understand people with diseases!

2 days before they would have to pay unemployment, I was terminated for attendance related to health.

After divorce mediation, I am sitting with $10,000 in medical debt, filing for food stamps, and figuring out who wants my talent under their roof.

I believe you reap what you sow, and hope I have sown sufficiently to ask this of others.
