Station Surf Shop Needs Your Help

When I opened Station Surf shop back in 2016, I did so with this vision of creating a space where people not only shopped for their surfing needs, but I did so to create a community connecting all levels of surfers to the joy and stoke surfing could bring. A community, where whether you were a beginner or advanced surfer, you felt like you belong and had a place to call home. I didn’t think at that time that I was doing anything pioneering or particularly great. I just wanted to help makes people lives better and feel more fulfilled through surfing and skateboarding. Being one of the very few black owned surf shops just happened to be something that came with the vision.

7 years later, the community that has formed is something that I am super proud of.

I look forward to coming to work everyday, because I am honestly servicing some of the most amazing human beings in the surf culture on this side of the US.

As an entrepreneur and small business owner, I’ve learned a lot on this journey of build this business and space. I did a lot of things very well and made a few mistakes along the way. However, the one thing that kept me going was hearing how thankful customers and visitors were for having the Surf shop available to them in the way it was.

This past year was a tough one financially. A few unexpected large expenses and slower than usual year really set me behind. I was honestly ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. But, everyone I spoke to about the idea of closing up shop started to talk me out of it! "Are you crazy! there’s no way you can close. It would be a huge loss for the surf and skate community in NY". Is generally how the conversation went... So... I have to try harder! Although it is tough and humbling ask for help, I’m asking for your help today.
