SSC Therapeutic Skating Program
Donation protected
In 2017, Southport Skating Club launched a therapeutic skating program to serve children with special needs in the Chicagoland area. Weekly classes are led by skating professionals and figure skaters/hockey players who work individually with the children. The program's success continues to grow, as it breaks down barriers for special needs children to benefit from the challenges, joys and physical conditioning of figure skating. Therapeutic skating is changing the lives of these kids, and they are changing ours. The program was originally financed by Prudential's Building Block Grant, and we are now fundraising to finance another year of this program. The funds cover everything from sleds, skates and ice costs to awards and t-shirts for the children. 100% of the funds raised will go directly into the program. (minus Go Fund Me fees) Southport Skating Club is a 501c3 organization and a club member of U.S. Figure Skating.
