Hello, my name is Aloysious and I am a sophomore at the University of Mary Washington. I am a prospective Data Science major, and applied statistics minor. I am very grateful for the kind support towards my tuition for the Spring 2022 semester, I was able to raise enough money to get me through it. THANKYOU so much. I am kindly reaching out again for your support for the spring 2023 semester.
It is a great joy and immense gratefulness being able to make it to the United States to pursue and earn my Bachelor's Degree, but also it has been a lot of struggle from my first semester in college. When I first came here, I was promised paid-for tuition by a group in Uganda that helps aspiring college students pay for their way into college. Due to extreme circumstances, I can not control, they were unable to assist me at all with being able to stay on campus.
I have been working 2 jobs on campus during the school year as a Resident Assistant and a Desk Attendant and saving every single money that I get to make ends meet, coming from a humble background, I support my family back home in Uganda too by sending money back home for my parents to buy home groceries and pay for rent, electricity among other things. I have been able to maintain above a 3.0 GPA and I stand at a 3.12 GPA as per now, as an International student, I am limited to the number of hours I can work which is up to 20 hours a week and I do not make enough to cover my tuition expenses. During the summer 0f 2023, I worked 3 jobs as an Orientation leader, Resident Assistant and Desk attendant and I was able to get the money to pay for the fall 2023 semester alongside great help and support from the university financial aid office through scholarships, but this spring I'm being left with an incredibly difficult choice. With 9,754 dollars left to pay for this spring semester, I am forced to choose between staying or leaving for the next semesters ahead, and the foreseeable future.
This would be incredibly heartbreaking to me, my family, and everyone I know at home. It has always been my desire to come to college not only to earn my Bachelor's Degree, but to also escape a dictatorship that was keeping me and my family from succeeding and being able to provide for us, the people around us and generations to come.
With the money collected from this, I will put it all towards the bill I have now, so that I can stay on campus and continue to pursue my dreams in hopes of making my family proud and being able to support them in the future, in the hopes of continuing to be hope for as long as I live. I am very grateful for my time in the U.S and would very much love to stay so as to be nurtured and shaped into the man I have always dreamed of and the man I hope to be me into after attending university.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
