'Mask Packs' for elderly Tasmanians
Donation protected
WHAT WE ARE DOING (DECEMBER 2022) - Covid cases are on the rise again, and with isolation no longer mandatory, the risk to our elderly and most vulnerable Tasmanians is high. We are hoping to raise some additional funds to create more 'Mask Packs' for elderly Tasmanians including N95's and other essentials (sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes).
WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR - With funds raised so far, we have sent 346 'Stay Safe Packs' and 150 'Mask Packs' to elderly Tasmanians. This has been made possible by the generous donations from our community and product donations from Tasmanian businesses.
MEDIA COVERAGE AND RECOGNITION: The work our group has done in 2022 has been featured on 7 Nightly News Tasmania (3 times), ABC News (national), 4 articles in The Examiner, multiple articles in The Mercury (including front page and double page spread), The Advocate and on radio including ABC Radio and Tasmania Talks. The group's Administrator, Belinda, also received a nomination for 'Australian of the Year 2023' for the support provided to our Tasmanian community.
All money raised goes directly to the packs and this initiative is 100% coordinated by volunteers who source items, pack and deliver across Tasmania. All packs provided by this group are delivered at no cost to Tasmanians over the age of 65.
Additional Info: 'Stay Safe Packs' and 'Mask Packs' are an initiative coordinated by the administrators of the Facebook group - Tasmania: Covid Awareness & Community Support. The group is a community of 50,000 caring and supportive Tasmanians. (Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/378750597357349). Feel welcome to join our group to see regular posts, photos and updates about this initiative.
We firmly believe that vulnerable people having access to quality masks during a pandemic is a right and not a privilege. Please help us by donating to help elderly Tasmanians feel supported by their community, and protected. For more info, please call Belinda on 0448202088.
