Brittany’s fight against cancer!

Brittany Rivera is 31 years old she is a single mom of two beautiful Children Kylie and Gunner, and on January 28th 2022 there lives changed completely.. She woke up that night not feeling well and did what anyone would do and just tried to rest, by the time she realized she needed to go to the hospital it was to late. Brittany was rushed to the Coleman ER and after the Doctors did everything they could in Coleman they care flighted her to the Dallas hospital were they proceed to inform her the disturbing news. Brittany had suffered a stroke during her seizures which led to finding out she also has stage 2 Astrocytoma Brain Cancer and would need surgery to remove the tumor that was growing rapidly.

By the time they scheduled her surgery for May 9th 2022 the tumor had grown to consume the entire left side of her brain. Unfortunately they were unable to remove a tiny part of the tumor due to its location but they were not concerned with it, as they believed the tumor would not grow anymore. Following the surgery she had a large recovery period but little did she know her journey with Cancer was far from over. In April of 2023 she had a routine MRI in Dallas where the doctor informed her that the tumor had grown back at a concerning rate but they wanted to wait for a few more months to do anything. Brittany had decided she wanted a second opinion and Thankfully she went to The Walker Cancer Center in Brownwood where the Doctor saw her scans and immediately jumped into action. She has been rushed on a path of Radiation and Chemotherapy. The doctors here at The Walker Cancer Center have been wonderful and very precise. Brittany will start her first round of Radiation and Chemotherapy within the next two weeks but due to her condition she is unable to work for a minimum of 12 weeks depending on how she responds to the treatments. Due to Brittany being a single mom with two children and no way to make extra income Brittany and her family would appreciate greatly for any help financially so she can rest easy and heal as needed while she goes through this hard time knowing all of her bills will be taken care of.
