Stehr Family - Wheelchair accessible van
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alyssa and I’m fundraising for the Stehr family. With their 3rd baby on the way, they are needing to find and purchase a van that can accommodate all three of their children, including their adopted son, Caleb, who has special needs and is in a wheelchair.
Jenny Stehr is a sweet friend of mine from our MOPS group. She met her husband, Justin, at church and they have been married for 7 years. She always wanted to foster/adopt and her husband lovingly went on that journey with her. Being that Jenny grew up with a brother who was severely disabled, she has always had a special place in her heart for the special needs population. When they were asked to take a medically fragile baby with special needs from foster care, they were a little hesitant at first, but really felt God leading them to say yes (and they are so incredibly thankful they did!).
Jenny & Justin fostered Caleb when he was 6 months old. Due to drug exposure, he was born with hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, severe plagiocephaly, and cortical vision loss. He was later also diagnosed with intractable epilepsy (Lennox Gastaut Syndrome) and has anywhere from 10 - 50 seizures a day. The Stehrs officially adopted Caleb when he was 2 ½ years old. He is now 4 years old and a proud big brother to Jake (18 months) and a baby sister on the way!
Due to Caleb’s extensive needs, frequent hospitalizations, weekly therapies (OT, PT, speech, adapted swimming) and frequent medical appointments, Jenny is Caleb’s full-time caregiver and is unable to work.
The cost of a lift modification is $30k on top of the cost of the van.
I am hoping we can all get together and bless this sweet and selfless family by helping contribute to the cost of the modifications needed to be able to transport all of their children safely.
Thank you so much! God Bless!
