THE COVID KINDNESS NOTES PROJECT

It is no secret that the world feels incredibly heavy these days. We are not going to sugar-coat the unsettling and disorienting time we are all experiencing. Steller Kindness has primarily been known for the hair we do in regards to how we use our platform to connect with the community. We, for obvious reasons, are unable to continue giving in that way (tough to do while staying 6 feet apart!), but we want to creatively find ways to help others feel less alone during this incredibly isolating time.

The loneliness can sink in quickly, especially with social distancing. We feel pretty helpless, which is an indicator to ask a question: “there is so much I can’t do.... what CAN I do?”

Our Steller Kindness team wants to write you a letter because you are NOT alone, and you are VERY loved. DM us your address, and we will send you one of these rad stickers (while supplies last) and a little note! ❤️

If you would like to support this project, we will need help paying for stamps and stickers! With that being said, money is something so many people need right now, so we will continue to write our kindness notes until we run out of funds. Please give to others. Give money when you can, but more importantly give kindness and support to those around you.

If fear is contagious, why can't kindness be?

We love you all. The world is heavy, but our community is strong. Let's show up, let's be kind.

THE RED CHAIR PROJECT

Join us in going “beyond the sign”.

The Steller Kindness Project  foundation is on a mission to truly see and listen to the people in our communities who are holding that sign, and asking for help.  We want the free haircuts we offer to be a bridge that leads to building connections and relationships with those who might often be overlooked.

Until now, The Red Chair Project has been thriving on a small-scale volunteer basis, of one hair stylist and her assistant. To put it simply, we drive around our community looking to connect with individuals who would feel helped and supported by a free haircut; people who are holding signs asking for help and most often, appear to be experiencing homelessness. We also offer small red reusable bags to the individuals we connect with; these bags are filled with necessities such as: food, (fun) socks, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, a water bottle and snacks. Within the signature red bag, there are also two envelopes of money, one is meant to be used to do something kind for themselves, and the other is for them to do something kind for someone else.

The Red Chair Project aims to connect with people not only through the cutting of hair, but to seeing and listening to those we interact with; this project thrives on connections and positively impacting people with kindness. We make it a point to intentionally ask questions to learn more about them, build a relationship, and actively listen. We also want to use our Steller Kindness platform to share stories of the people in our communities that want to be heard, but don’t have a supportive space to speak

Your donation will impact many and truly means so much to us. With your donations, we will be able to:

+Purchase 5 additional red chairs to increase our volunteer opportunities with local hair stylists.

+Purchase items for Kindness Bags (toiletries, feminine hygiene products, snacks, other necessities).

+Create a “permanent” hair kit (hair tools that are specific to the project, the people we serve and the hair needs that they have).

+Facilitate ongoing connection and purchase items for follow-ups with Red Chair participants (items that are specialized and authentic to the person - this could look like a pair of shoes, a sketchpad, or even essential oils for homemade shampoos).
