Stem Cell Transplant for Denise Espinosa
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Denise Espinosa, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma cancer in July 2020. Currently, a stem cell transplant is the optimal treatment recommended for Multiple Myeloma patients. Although there is no official cure for MM, this procedure will not only improve her quality of life but it will also extend her life expectancy by many years. Most stem cell transplant patients are able to live an additional 10 years or more because of this amazing procedure. More research is coming out each day getting us closer to a cure. ❤️ Thankfully, she has been approved for the transplant through UAB located in Birmingham, Alabama in early April.
She is a retired nurse who has always been there for those around her. If you’ve spent any time with her you know she loves her family more than anything and has worked in our community for more than 30 years giving back to those in need.
The transplant will require a two week stay inside the hospital with an additional one to two week stay at a nearby hotel for further observations. The Medicare Advantage plan she has will pay for a portion of the stem cell transplant but she will still be left to cover a significant amount herself. Besides the actual procedure, she will need additional funds for food, travel expenses related to the transplant, and other miscellaneous medical bills also related to the transplant.
She has been unable to work since the diagnosis due to the pain and weakness each day - but, she still has the spirit of a fighter. If you are able to help, no donation is too small. Our family appreciates your gift and please know all proceeds will 100% go towards expenses for her care/the transplant.
