STEM Summer Bash
Tax deductible
Golden Aya has been conducting a volunteer program for the past three years. Through our volunteer program in East Africa, college and high school students experienced new cultures and perspectives while creating lasting bonds, learning new languages, and finding fulfillment in helping others.
However, not every student wanting to volunteer with us has had the funds to participate in this life-changing event. So this year, Golden Aya is raising money for ten lucky students to be sponsored through our 2023 STEM Summer Bash. Selected students from underrepresented at-risk low-income families will be given the opportunity to join in on something beyond their reach.
During their time in Arusha, Tanzania, college and high school students will learn East African language, culture, and politics from their African peers and professionals. They will also be guided on how to coach primary-aged students in Arusha, Tanzania, in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.
Golden Aya’s goal is to promote global student engagement to compete and contribute to an increasingly diverse world, to provide students with competitive advantages in the job market, to empower students to contribute to addressing social problems, and to serve to increase students’ value of intercultural understanding
Our choice to give students from underrepresented at-risk low-income areas the opportunity to travel and volunteer abroad is because they are significantly challenged by financial barriers among other social issues that negatively impact their ability to volunteer abroad. This opportunity could be the eye-opener that inspires them to be agents of change in their communities.
Travel & study abroad programs have become an increasingly integral part of American higher education, and such programs contribute to the overall success of students pre- and post-graduation. Assessments of travel & study abroad programs indicate positive outcomes on student learning and development. Studies also indicate that travel & study abroad programs are correlated with high graduation rates among under-prepared and at-risk students
A successful fundraiser will grant our selected students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will change their lives forever. Golden Aya will need assistance from people who believe in giving young men and women a chance at positive exposure and a more developed mentality. It will be impossible to fund our at-risk students without support. If you have any means to donate, please do. You can be the difference in someone's life.
All donations count, no matter the size!
We are looking to raise $36,000 by May 15th.
Funds will be used to sponsor at-risk and underrepresented students through the summer bash. It will also be used to purchase STEM education materials.
