South Side Steps Art
Tax deductible
The South Side Steps Art project is a neighbor-driven series of public art projects transforming the city steps that join the streets of this Pittsburgh community.
Phase One-The Oakley Street Mosaic Steps project will embellish this stairway with a mosaic tile picture applied to the risers of the steps that can be seen as a piece of art when standing at the bottom. The mosaic will be created by renowned local artist Laura Jean McLaughlin. This first installment of this ongoing project to beautify our neighborhood and city has an operating budget of $6000.
Future projects will be initiated as funding goals have been met and work begun on Phase One.
The South Side is a vibrant and colorful neighborhood in a fantastic city, and the steps are a long-time feature that reminds us of this community's heritage, connecting us not only to each other in the present but connecting us to our city's past. The South Side Steps Art project will give form to these functional stairways, making them vibrant and colorful as well.
All contributions made to the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association are tax deductible.
