Four years ago, my husband got a phone call that would change our lives … forever. A call that no parent should ever get. As if getting a call that your daughter has passed away wasn’t bad enough, finding out later that her live in boyfriend shot and killed her and her ten year old son, was to say the least, heartbreaking.
Fast forward three years to November 2021. We FINALLY after three long years, have a trial set. My husband and I spent a month in Florida for the trial. The person responsible was found guilty. It’s now a year later, and countless court dates, rescheduled court dates, still a year after the trial, four years after they were murdered, we are still back and forth to Florida for hearings waiting for him to be sentence.
The unexpected deaths of two beautiful people, a mother and her son, has been devastating. The financial burden put upon our family has been hard. After four years, their gravesites still have just the moveable markers. Every time we go to visit them, it’s heartbreaking to see their markers moved for lawn care to be done, or whatever reason. They need something permanent on their graves that can not be moved.
We decided to set up a go fund me to be able to get permanent bronze and granite markers for their gravesites. Our family can’t afford to do this on our own, so any donation will be appreciated and such a blessing. We set it at $8000, to make sure we can cover as much of the expense and fees associated with making this happen.
If we reach our goal, and do not need it all, we will be donating the surplus to Hopeful Horizons in honor of Stephanie and Ryon.
