Stephanie’s Cancer Battle Fundraiser
Donation protected
2020 really dealt Stephanie a bad hand. Here is a rundown on what’s been going on. If you feel inclined to donate please do so here or contact Mike directly to donate into our Health Savings Account.
• On 9/11 we received a call from a Dr. and was told to get her to the Hospital ASAP. Later that afternoon I hot the call to get my but to the ER, I arrived and proceeded to get the Worst news of our Young Adult lives. They had found Nodules on her Lungs and a large Mass on her medial steinum (upper chest cavity). The mass was the size of a freakin Mango and the largest Nodule was the size of a Blackberry. The consensus was that it was most likely Cancerous. Stephs biggest fear because she lost her Dad to Lung Cancer in 1999 Steph stayed Strong and we talked for a while on how we were going to face this head on and be fully committed to fighting this with all we had. We knew we had sooo many Friends & Family in our corner, praying, sending good vibes, and always in their thoughts. For that we can’t thank you ALL enough.
• On 9/12 we did a Bone scan and they found lesions on the bones in her Neck, Back, and Spine. These lesions cause her extreme pain. It takes a lot out of her to complete simple tasks we take for granted every day, like getting out of bed, or going from standing to sitting. Needless to say, it really got poured on US.! Then we found out there were Cysts on her Ovaries. This Chic still stayed positive through all of this news and it only made us stronger.
• On 9/14 Stephanie had a Double Biopsy of both the Mango sized mass & the Blackberry sizes Lung Nodule. This process pierced her lung. Due to this and the fluid on her heart and lung she is forced to be on Oxygen 24/7.
We remained at Vassar Hospital till Tuesday evening when we were discharged at 6pm via Ambulance.
• 9/16 - 9/19 Stephanie was home for a few days with her Animals, Bailey Mom Dog, Ziggy Man Dog, and Petra Peanut Butter Cup the 1st. This made her happy to be home but we still were just longing for the results of the Biopsy so we could be transferred to Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center.
• On Sunday 9/20 we got a call and they wanted Stephanie to go into the ER for an echocardiogram due to there being fluid build up around her Lungs and Heart.
• Tuesday morning we had our first appointment at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. We met our Doctor, Adam Schoenseld. His specialities are in Lung Cancer, Cellular Cancer, Unknown Cancers, and Clinical Trials. Needless to say we all were thrilled to be at Sloane and have a great Dr. in our corner. He wanted to be very proactive with treatment. What we thought was going to be a short consult turned into Stephanie being Hospitalized in their NYC hospital. This was unexpected but we all agreed that it would only fast track treatment.
• Tuesday night 10pm I’m on the train on my way home because the Hospital has a Visitation policy that they were a little Lenient with for me.
• Thursday morning 9/24 they drained just over a litter of fluid off of Stephanie’s lungs and heart. They attempted to do the MRI scan that is needed to proceed with treatment. She was unable to go through with it because she still couldn’t breath while laying flat in the machine.
• Friday morning and Mike is back visiting and we are scheduled for another try at the MRI on Saturday. Today we are just going to chill!
• We have received so much outreach from Friends, Customers of mine, and Family. We can not thank you ALL enough for the thoughts, prayers, and gestures.
• We started this GoFundMe page due to the amount of request of people reaching out to help in any way or asking to donate.
• As I mentioned at the top, 2020 really dealt us a hand. Just to recap, Stephanie lost her Grandmother Lola in early March. The wake was on Steph’s Birthday 3/9. ALSO - some of you might not know that We had a miscarriage mid June. It’s been one hell of a year!!
Most of you know this woman she is so kind, generous, and always willing to help. We love putting smiles on peoples faces through Softball, Cornhole League, Dart League, Kickball League & socializing.
