Stephanie’s Transplant Expenses and Loss of Wages
Donation protected
My sister, Stephanie Park, has battled diabetes and kidney failure since she was 15! She has overcome so much that would knock anyone else to their knees! For 30 years she has had to watch everything she ate, constantly checking sugars, pumping insulin, dealing with pain, sickness and so much more! Recently she was put on dialysis because her kidney function was at 5%. That just added soo much more pain and energy in dealing with dialysis!
But she has just been given the gift of a new less challenging life!! Thanks to an organ donor, she has been given a new kidney and a new pancreas!! Which means, she is no longer diabetic and has normal kidney function!!
What many of you may not know, transplants are expensive!! There is extensive care at the hospital for a procedure like this, and although insurance pays for some, it doesn’t pay for all! After being discharged from a long 3 weeks stay at the hospital, Stephanie and Matt had to rent an apartment near the hospital, in New Orleans, for an undetermined amount of time. They have also been out of work since the surgery, with little to no vacation time. The last thing she needs during recovery is any kind of stress or worry so she can relax and heal correctly!
