Stephanie's Transplant Journey

Donation protected
As many of you know, my mom, Stephanie Stanley, has been going through a tremendous journey to battle a life-threatening condition. We started well over a year ago when we found out she would need a new liver due to a disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. After much planning, on October 12, 2021, she had her first transplant. We were so excited and could not wait for her to get well enough to come home. After many complications and surgery to remove her spleen, she was able to go home in mid-November. However, as she was not getting better, Cathy, her mother, decided she needed to be re-admitted to the hospital on December 9th. The next day we learned the devastating news that my mom would have to have another high-risk transplant to save her life. Through the graces of God, she received her second transplant two months to the day of her first transplant on December 12. Mom has been slowly healing; however, we got the worst news expected a few days into the new year that she was going to need a third transplant. Another extremely high-risk and critical surgery for her. To say our hearts are broken would be an understatement. Stephanie is a wonderful momma, friend, teacher, and daughter but most of all, she is a fighter. We’re currently awaiting the arrival of a new liver in the coming days, and we’ll begin the road to recovery once again! We will be by her side the entire way!
In the meantime, we could use everyone’s financial assistance along with your thoughts and prayers. We’re in the process of moving her to Disability and COBRA as her contract as a teacher will terminate at the end of January. We all look forward to the day she is able to teach again! Ignoring the medical bills, which will be insurmountable, we could use your help for attorney fees for me to gain Guardianship, COBRA and insurance payments, as well as maintaining the household until we’re able to get a steady Disability income. If any of you know me, asking for help is the last thing I do, but it is what we decided as a family needs to happen. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers as well during this time.
With love,
Madison, Ray, and Cathy
