In Support of the Barrett Family

Stephen was in an auto accident on Wednesday, September 27th. His truck was t-boned, and he suffered extensive injuries. He was admitted to the hospital with 18 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, two broken shoulder blades, and a fracture of the T3 vertebra in his back.

He is currently in critical condition in the ICU in a medically induced coma.

48 hours after admission when we thought he was on the mend, he had an extensive bleed from his lung and lost a lot of blood. Due to the blood loss, Stephen went into hemorrhagic shock, and his organs shut down. This caused him to go into cardiac arrest. Once the medical staff stabilized him after the cardiac arrest, he went for a CT scan which showed bleeds in his brain and lower abdomen. A follow-up CT scan shows the bleeds have subsided, but at this point he is critical, on multiple life supports due to lung and kidney failure.

It is difficult to know what his long-term prognosis will look like. He remains on life support, but he seems to be trending in the right direction and we are hoping for a full recovery.

Nothing prepares a family for something like this.

Kelly is by his side day and night. Sons Billy and Avery are there. Stephen's sister, who is a nurse, is there, advocating for him with the critical care staff.
