It pains me to have to do this, to ask for help. For those of you that have been following some of my posts, I am in an epic struggle with Jordan’s Principle, this is a program of the federal government that funds support to First Nations children with health issues. Three years ago, I chose to work with an Indigenous service provider that provides a comprehensive service for my daughter that should be the bench mark of support to Indigenous children. Unfortunately, they, Jordan’s Principle have denied our request for funding as it has been deemed too expensive. That is the first issue. Secondly they have acknowledged that they have no funding formula upon which to base their decision. I have repeatedly asked them for a budget in which to work within to no avail.
In my humble opinion, this a barrier to providing support to Indigenous children, that they purport to provide.
I have now been placed in the unfortunate situation of having to file a Judicial Review through the courts. This has meant that I have had to retain a lawyer to represent us and in reality all other indigenous children to ensure that they are able to receive not just care but that the best care that they are entitled to. To thrive not just survive.
This requires me to fund a Goliath vs David process as a single father raising two daughters. The Government has unlimited funds and resources to fight me on this quest for not only my daughter but for all Indigenous children. So with great humility and humbleness, I am asking for your support to fund this epic struggle.
For those of you that know me well, I have spent most of my life educating people on the history of Canada from an Indigenous perspective in a good way and supporting my community as best I can.
I am now in a position of asking for your help. If you are able to support this fund or even to share it, it would be greatly appreciated.
