Steve Breaux and family

The story is below...most of us know it, so keep reading please.

This gofundme is a way we can show our love to Steve, Sue and their family.   It's very expensive to rent an apt in the Houston area near the hospital, which is where they need to be, and it could be several months before they are able to return home.  Our goal amount is based on 3 mos of expenses.  Please give as God lays on your heart. ***

Sue would like to paper his walls with cards and letters too!  Here's the address:

Baylor St Lukes

On January 9, 2018, Steve Breaux had severe stomach pains, so much that he was doubled over and having trouble breathing.   Steve went to the ER and was admitted.  Shortly after admission, he was placed in ICU--his pancreatic enzymes and blood sugar were extremely high--his kidneys were shutting down.  The doctors found that he needed gall bladder surgery, but had to wait until these other issues stabilized.  On January 16th, Natalie (his daughter) posted this update:

"I’m sorry it took so long for an update, but my family and I had to get our heads on straight before posting anything. There were some complications with daddy’s (Steven Breaux) surgery. Daddy is out of surgery, on a ventilator sedated and is in critical condition. His doctor attempted a laparoscopic cholecystectomy but when he looked around he saw the pancreas was necrotic. He did an exploratory laparotomy. He called another doctor to have a second opinion and they removed the gallbladder, put in 2 drains on his pancreas and a feeding tube. The pancreas is autodigesting, and his diagnosis is pancreatic necrosis. His doctors recommended a doctor at Baylor in Houston at the Elkins Pancreatic Center. Daddy will stay intubated to give his body a break and let him rest. Hopefully he can be transferred to Houston tomorrow. We couldn't have asked for a better medical and surgical team. Everyone has done their very best and have taken excellent care of daddy and our family and we are so thankful for all of our prayer warriors.
I am making this post public so if anyone wants to share it with any of daddy’s lifelong friends that did not see my posts or anyone you can think of that should need to know. We need all the prayers we can get!"

In the wee hours of Thursday,  January 18th, Steve was transported to St. Lukes and Samantha (his eldest daughter)  posted:

"Update on dad: he is settled in at Baylor St. Luke's in Houston. Today mostly consisted of tests, labs and scans to get a better picture of everything. This is still a waiting game but hopefully we'll have a gameplan tomorrow. The medical team here is on point! As always thank you everyone for the love, support and prayers. We appreciate all of them and all of you"

Today, January 22, Sue posted an update"

"Steven Breaux update: He was stable this am. Then out of the blue they found he had been bleeding internally. A new problem. Emergency EGD revealed an ulcer in 2 places. WTH??? Clipped them off. He's also receiving blood, fluids and on a slow 24 hr dialysis. He was stable NOW he's critical. When Steven becomes stable again there will be more tests. I shared an, "In His perfect time. In His perfect way".  this morning. Coincidence? No, I don't believe so. He was reminding me to be faithful and trust Him. You all have been so patient with our prayer requests and updates. Please continue to do so. Our Breaux and Deroche (Samantha, Mark and little baby 'D') family will be traveling down this road for months to come. If it is His will. "

Sue and their wonderful kids need our prayers, love and support too.  Sue is by his side, Mark and Samantha have full time jobs they are juggling and are having Steve's first grandbaby in July, Natalie and Cory are still in school at McNeese--they are traveling as much as possible.

Sue and her family have asked for nothing but prayers and cards for Steve.

I know there are others like our family, who are praying diligently, but feel God wants us to do something else.  This is something else....

Steve, Sue and family......We love you more than  you will ever know!

***Please note, when making a donation, there will be an option to 'tip' gofundme--it is voluntary.  They automatically charge 2.9% of each donation plus a flat fee of .30.  I wanted this to be transparent.  You can 'tip' whatever you would like, but does not go to the family.  Here is what gofundme's help says about their tips:

Adding a GoFundMe Tip
Rather than charging a platform fee on personal campaigns in the US and Canada, GoFundMe gives donors the option to add a voluntary tip.  Your donation receipt will show you a breakdown of your donation and tip amount. On your statement, this will either show up as a single combined charge, or as two separate charges.
These tips allow GoFundMe to maintain and improve our free platform. We are incredibly grateful for the donors who help keep GoFundMe the safest, most trusted, and most successful option for personal fundraising. Only with your help can we continue to provide help to others when they need it most.
