Steve Buchanan's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

We come to you today with heavy hearts as our big brother, Steve, is facing the very difficult medical challenges of brain cancer. Despite their strength and determination, Steve and Gloria need support to cover the overwhelming costs of their medical expenses. We are reaching out to you, our community, to help alleviate some of the financial burdens and support them in their time of need. Steve and Gloria are usually the ones helping others so it's difficult for them to be the ones in need. Just to give an example, we were on our way to take Gloria to the hospital. She climbs into our Jeep with 2 giant jugs of water. I chuckled a bit and asked her if she was thirsty. She then told me that we needed to make one stop before the hospital to drop water off for her elderly friend. Even in the direst of circumstances Gloria was thinking of others and doing what she could to help. When I asked her if we could do a GoFundMe page for her and Steve she said she wouldn't want anyone to give their grocery money to help them. She was willing for us to ask people to help only if they were able to do so without having to sacrifice. We trust that God will bless those who are willing and able to financially contribute to help this extraordinary couple in their time of need. Every little bit helps so we thank you in advance for your generosity and your prayers. Your love and support mean more than words can say. Thank you, and God bless you!

On August 7, 2022, Steve was taken to Culpeper hospital after having several seizures during his visit with his dad. He was later diagnosed with 4th stage Glioblastoma which is the worst and most aggressive type of brain cancer. Later, the doctors were baffled as they told Gloria it wasn't Glioblastoma but 2nd stage Astrocytoma. We celebrated this news as a miracle; however, the celebration was short-lived. The doctors continue to be perplexed by this fast-growing supposed Astrocytoma that is acting like a Glioblastoma. Steve has been through radiation and chemotherapy treatments but continues to decline to a state where he can't walk or even speak. The doctors have increased the steroids each time to bring him back to where he is awake and alert. Currently, the situation is such that a very risky brain surgery may be the only treatment option left. We are praying for wisdom because we were originally advised by the doctors that this surgery was not an option. It could leave Steve without the ability to speak or recognize friends and loved ones. Please keep Steve and Gloria in your prayers as these difficult decisions are being made.

My big brother Steve..... husband, father, brother, son, friend, master electrician, accomplished competitive marksman, and Mr. Independent. He has always been the one to call if we needed help. I honestly can't think of a time in his life when he asked for or needed help. He was the giver of help. He's not even asking now. We're asking on his behalf and the behalf of his amazing wife Gloria. We hope that we can be the help that they need during this very trying and difficult time.
