Steve & Debbie Hollman

I am organizing this page for my Brother & Sister-in-law, Steve & Debbie. They are both very hard workers, parents, grandparents in addition to brothers, sister etc, loved by many. Between the two they have quite the story the last couple of years of being a survivor to continued hardships.

Lets start with Debbie right after she started a new job, in December 2020 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Tongue Cancer, she endured and survived 3 chemo sessions, 34 radiation appointments, surgery to get 40% of her tongue removed and all her teeth removed. She is doing well & goes for her regular check ups, so far so good. She is back at work and now has to take time off to care for her husband. She can not afford to care for him properly without extra income. She can not afford to lose her insurance for obvious reasons both her & Steve are on her policy.

Then in August 2020 Steve started having seizures and was flown to Spokane to be scanned. The CT showed 4 brain tumors. They were able to remove 2 of them and sent them off to be biopsied. They were diagnosed as Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. He then went through 3 rounds of chemo and went septic. He was hospitalized for 8 days and during that stay they found a blood clot in one of his legs. After his 4th chemo appointment his glucose levels required him to go onto insulin. They used Gamma Knife Radiation on 4 tumors. Then, 8 months later after a follow up scan, they found 5 more tumors in his brain that needed radiation. To add to all these issues somehow last May he was diagnosed with 5 compression fractures in his back which are very stubborn and will not heal. These cause him a great deal of pain and makes it unbearable to stand for any amount of time.

He of course has many appointments every week. They try to coordinate appointments for the Pulmonologist, Neurologist, Infusion and now Cardiologist as all his treatments are now affecting his heart. He now has started to fall and confusion is often a factor in his day. His leg is so swollen from the blood clot & onset diabetes that he sleeps in his recliner because of the amount of pain it causes to lift his leg to get into bed.

It’s around 130+ miles to get to these appointments. With gas prices being so high, as well as time off, no family to stay with Steve while Dee Dee is at work, decreased income for normal household bills not to mention inflation.

Well, the time has now come that Steve needs 24 hour care, he is a fall risk, in need of additional healthcare aids, such as a lift chair, possibly a hospital bed, transport wheel chair. He is not quite old enough for Medicare, so all this would be out of pocket. If anyone can find it in their hearts to help them out, it would be so appreciated.

Blessings to you all & thank you for your prayers & financial help in advance.
