A few weeks ago my dad got some devastating news about his mom who was being sent home to live out her final time here on earth surrounded by loved ones. With no estimate of how long she would have, my dad decided he would drive up to see her and spend time with her until she passed. During his drive he started experiencing medical issues which caused mom to have to rush to him and complete the trip. They made it to NY on 4/23. In the few minutes he was at Grandma's he had another fall and his defibrillator went off. An ambulance was called and he was taken over an hour to Utica. Since getting to the hospital dad has been diagnosed with legionnaire disease and  Pneumonia. After an X-ray and a cat scan they rushed dad in for emergency surgery for a Perforated ulcer. By the Grace of God (and still a mystery) the surgeon could find NO issues during surgery. Dad is stable and doing okay. But due to the distance mom has been staying in a hotel by the hospital. Both mom and dad are disabled Veterans on a fixed income. Family is on week 2 of hotel costs and could use the help to keep mom close to dad until he is released.
