My son Stephen, 40, strained his neck while cleaning out his flooded basement. He went to the doctor's and was giving pain pills and muscle relaxants. Over the next few weeks, it just kept getting worse. He ended up in the ER and they took x-rays and a CAT scan and sent him home. That evening his legs gave out on him and he was taken to the hospital paralyzed from the neck down. He had spine surgery and a few days later, a second spinal surgery. He was in the ICU for four weeks and then moved to a step down room. That was over a week ago. He is still paralyzed from the neck down and cannot even pick up a piece of paper. He is not yet stable enough to go to rehab.
Of course he is not able to work and his wife works and takes care of their two girls, 3 and 8. Before this happened, Stephen took care of his children during the day and then went to work from 4 PM until 12 AM.
They have health insurance but what it doesn't cover will be tremendous. If you can help, in even a small way, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
