Help Steve Gittler Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Where do we begin? In 2015 Steve was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. When Steve first shared the news of his condition, friends and family immediately rallied around him.  Everyone who has met Steve knows he has a passion for Christ, a love of life and a gift of humility and humor.

Throughout his life, Steve has inspired and touched the lives of all the people around him.  As his son, I want to share his story with people who don't know him, but should -- because Steve has taught me the power of determination and hard work and the value of being a team player.  My dad is truly a one-of-a-kind human with the spirit of a fighter and a heart for God.

When the diagnosis of cancer was first delivered, the only recourse was surgery. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was too little, too late, and the cancer metastasized to his hip, shoulder and spine.

Steve has been fighting a losing battle for the past few years and the enemy(cancer) is growing stronger. On December 9th, Steve was admitted to the hospital again due to complete immobility from the waist down. On Wednesday, December 11th, a malignant tumor was found to be pressing on his spine causing immobility and pain. On Wednesday evening Steve spent several hours in emergency surgery to remove the tumor.

He has begun the healing process and is looking stronger every day. Things have been going as well as possible, where, thanks to your unimaginable generosity, Steve's home has been renovated to accommodate a wheelchair!! We are all ready for him to come home after spending 3 weeks, including the Christmas holiday in the hospital.

The road ahead to recovery will be a bumpy one, with many challenges and struggles ahead. There will be continued visits for radiation treatments, physical therapy, chemotherapy, etc.. Until he has been able to regain his strength in his legs, he will be confined to a wheelchair and unable to return to work. This has created a financial void that we can all help fill.

Please join in our prayers and help us support Steve through a contribution, big or small, and messages of encouragement, to help Steve as he continues down this long path toward recovery.  Our family is completely overwhelmed with gratitude at the outpouring of love, prayers and support from all of you these past few weeks as Steve continues to battle his cancer.

Having you by his side has filled him with strength, positivity and even laughter during this difficult and unexpected time. I am grateful for several visitors the past 3 weeks who made the trip up to visit Steve. Your kind words and care for his wellness have helped Steve and Jeanne get through some very difficult days.

Steve has been a shining light and a beacon of God's love for many years. He continues to laugh, smile, and proclaim his purpose of sharing God’s love to everyone he meets. Nothing has changed his incredible spirit. Please support Steve and his family on this journey, whether it be through prayers, meals, or this donation page. It truly means so much.

I know that we have not had the chance to individually thank each of you, but please know every single message, call, letter, prayer and thoughtful gesture for my father and my family has meant the world. We are so humbled by your love, confidence and generosity. So THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts.

With love and thanks,

Your brother in Christ.
