Steve Hayward's Cancer Fund

Donation protected
On October 16th, Steve Hayward went to the emergency room for abdominal pain. He was diagnosed by the ER doctors with a cancer that was affecting his pancreas and liver.

On October 19th Steve was told the cancer affecting his body is a very aggressive form of stage four pancreatic cancer. The cancer had also spread to his lungs and was affecting other organs in his body. Steve's doctors gave the family the devastating news there is no cure and no treatment available to help him fight this disease. There is a pallative treatment available which works for 43% of the patients who choose to use it. This pallative care, if it affects Steve, *could* change his current life expectancy of 4-6 months to up to 11 months.

Steve came to the United States from England, he moved to Medford New Jersery, and graduated from Shawnne high school class of 1977.  He is the brother of Jackie and Kurt James of Hearst James Hardware.  From there he joined the United States Air Force. He met and married Pamela Hayward (neé LaBode), while they were both in the Air Force stationed in Texas. He has been a stay at home father for about the past 13 years, raising his daughter Charis (18) and son Gabriel (12). Steve also has an adult son, Jason (37) who is living in California. The Hayward family was on one income.  Which is now ended as Pam has taken an extended leave from her job, to care for Steve.  As an independent nurse  practitioner she is not afforded the benefit of paid time off of work.  They have very limited health insurance and no life insurance.

This gofundme account has been set up by Steve's sister in law, Reneé. All money raised will be given to Steve's wife, Pam, to assist with medical bills and funeral expenses.

Steve has a "no bull" larger than life personality complete with a hearty belly laugh. He has a perfectly Bristish sense of humour that is blended with well practiced years of American snark. He is known by his family as an avid history buff who could get (and has been) lost in a bookstore. Our family is truly reeling from this diagnosis as we grapple with the meaning of not having him physically present with us.

Steve's extended family has also set up a benefit for him in Dundee, WI on December 3rd at Benson's Hideaway from 1:00 - 6:00 PM. Please consider joining us to help raise some much needed funds for the family.

Please consider donating to this gofundme account or coming to his benefit to help Pam and the kids financially as they adjust to a new life without their spouse and father.

Thank you for any support you are willing and able to show during this very sad time, it is very appreciated.
