Steven Krueger OB Bench & Estuary Improvement Fund
Donation protected
This fund has been created to honor the life of Steve Krueger, the UPS driver that tragically lost his life in the October 11th 2021 plane crash in Santee, California.
Steve worked for UPS for the past 30 years and was a year away from retiring. The reason he wanted to work for, in his words, “Just one more year,” was so he could continue to improve his home and rental property in Ocean Beach (OB), California. Steve not only took amazing care of his property, but he also took care of his tenants who considered him more like family than a landlord.
A “Ray of Light” to his friends, his family and his UPS co-workers, Steve's smile and upbeat take on life positively effected all he encountered. He was warm hearted, had an infectious laugh and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Not one to sit still and having a tremendous love of nature and the water, you could often find Steve in his 'happy places'... snow skiing in Mammoth or barefoot skiing on the Colorado River.
Donation to this fund will be put toward the creation of a bench and overall improvement of the estuary in his home community of Ocean Beach, California. Preferably the bench will be placed facing the San Diego River which would accomplish three goals- honoring Steve's love of the water, the continued beatification of his home community and lastly, showing Steve's soul the path home… as the San Diego River connects Santee to OB.
Any donation made to this fund will be put towards the cost of all services and fees associated with the bench planning and construction. Any money raised over the cost of the bench will be donated to The San Diego Audubon Society to be used for educational signage to go with the new protective Estuary Fencing being installed in 2022.
Steve, you will be dearly missed.
