Steven Magnusson’s Non-Hodgkin’s MALT Lymphoma Cancer Fight
Our Brother Steven is a couple states away going through the battle of his life. Our distance leaves us, as sisters, feeling like we can’t help him enough. Steven and wife Misty, along with their two young sons Marek and Sedrek, live in Wichita, KS. Steven is originally from Dayton, MN. A medical emergency at the beginning of May started a chain of events we could never have imagined. Steven left his ICU stay with 2 brain bleeds, numerous staples and a concussion. At the beginning of June a MRI confirmed it was more than a brain bleed; he had tumors on both sides of his brain. Steve’s neurosurgeon went into the larger of the two tumors for a biopsy. He originally told us he would not remove the tumor as it would most likely affect his speech and memory, but during the procedure he decided that he could take the tumor out in one piece without his original concerns. It was after this it was determined that Steven has Non-Hodgkin’s MALT Lymphoma cancer in the brain. He has been told that this is very rare; the neurosurgeon had never seen a tumor like it and neither the Radiation Oncologist, nor General Oncologist has treated this before. Steven has finished biotherapy, total brain radiation and also focused radiation. His last MRI, which was prior to the focused radiation, showed the cancerous cells and remaining tumor are shrinking.
Steven has been through a lot this last half of a year. He is physically and mentally exhausted and does not feel good. Since this horrible journey started Steven has not been able to work his usual work schedule. He goes back to work when he thinks he can handle it, but he doesn’t last long and ends up really sick again. For those of you who know Steven, he is always on the move. This battle has made him feel very confined since he isn’t working regularly and at this point he is still not allowed to drive.
Steven needs to focus on resting and healing. So, we are hoping to get him some financial relief to help pay medical and everyday expenses such as their mortgage payment. We know Steven has many family members, friends, friends of friends and churches praying for him. Please keep these prayers coming. Thank you to everyone who has helped Steven and Misty during this very difficult time. We appreciate any and all donations. Please share this with your friends and family. Your kindness and generosity are appreciated.
God Bless!
