Steve Posey's Journey through Cardiac Bypass

My Father is an amazing person to anyone whom has the opportunity to per take in his life. My Dad has been by my side and assisted me through every achievement and heart break. He has been an essential part of my children's up bringing and has adopted every animal that I have carelessly taken on. I call him the dog whisperer at home. Dad is very active, in shape, and has never smoked. Unfortunately for him genetics play a strong role, we have an extensive family history of cardiac issues. Dad turned 60 healthier than a horse! Last summer, he began having episodes of irregular heart rhythms, sweating, and nausea. These incidents brought us to the emergency room on multiple occasions; through this, and many different test, we found out he would need a cardiac bypass surgery as well as a maze procedure. This would improve cardiac circulation and hopefully put an end to the A-fibb. Dad had a double bypass and maze procedure on December 20th. We thought everything was well and he was discharged on Christmas. We were back at the ER within 10 hours of his discharge; Rapid A Fibb with pleural infusion. Dad was provided Lasix (Diuretic) and sent home. Two days later, he had a very scary episode and was taken by ambulance back to the hospital. This time, he had a hemothorax; after two unsuccessful paracentesis procedures it was decided he would need to go back to surgery. This time, a Thoracotomy to irrigate and remove the viscous material that collected in his pleural cavity. This has been an unexpected disaster; though we see improvements and set backs daily, I think, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. Dad was hospitalized for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and continues to be hospitalized until the chest tubes can be removed. We purposely planned the surgery in December to meet 2019 insurance deductible. Unfortunately, with Dads long stay his deductible started over on the first of January. Obviously, he is unable to work during this time. My Dad is a very private person and I hope he will forgive me for posting his personal business. I'm willing to take some heat, my Dad needs some assistance, we are unsure of his financial hardship. Thank you so much for reading this, those that are able to help it is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to assist please send good vibes, energy, and prayers to my amazing father.
